Kirk Green – Western Painter

My paintings have been described by many as Western Pop Art. Many of my Texas and Western subjects are very familiar, but the way I portray them is usually a little out of the ordinary. Unusual perspectives, vibrant color, meandering linework, and sometimes a heavy dose of humor, are combined to visually celebrate my Texas heritage.
I was born in Freeport , Texas , where the humidity is so thick you can slice it and mosquitoes are so big that they fly in formation. My formal training took place in Austin where I earned a Bachelor Fine Arts at the University of Texas . I’ve lived in the DFW area since 1986, working in the creative field of multimedia, web, and video production. Family and church activities, playing and singing Bluegrass music, and songwriting keep me busy the rest of the time.
