Carol Morrissey- Fiber / Quilts (see #14 on map)

Fabric, thread, dye, ink and paint—these are the materials Carol Morrissey uses when she transforms her drawings into quilts.  She has fond memories of painting and drawing from a very early age, and began sewing as a small child.  In the 1980s, she fell in love with quilting.  Her first pieces were very traditional in design and construction.  As the years went by, she experimented with various techniques and materials, stretching beyond the traditional into the unexpected.  Her pieces are typically inspired by nature, particularly by photos she takes in her garden.  Twenty-seven of her quilts were recently featured in a solo exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Nature and Science.  Her work has been in numerous juried exhibits, national and international shows and magazines, and is in private collections.  In addition to making art quilts, she designs quilt patterns which are sold in the United States and internationally.  Carol travels frequently, visiting quilt guilds and giving workshops.   She has lived in the Dallas area all her life and moved to Double Oak, Texas in 2000.
