Watercolor

I began watercoloring about 30 years ago, when my youngest daughter was diagnosed  with asthma.  She was allergic to the chemicals associated with oil painting.  I switched to watercolors.

I fell in love with watercolor and have never looked back. I really got serious when my children were in middle school and high school and found time to take classes to improve my skill in the medium.

There is not enough time in the day to paint all the things I want to paint. I can hardly wait to retire so I can paint all the time.

Watercolor is such a challenging medium.  There are so many techniques that can be applied to give watercolor different effects.  I love painting flowers, old rusty cars and shiny chrome.

More recently I have been painting portraits, something that I never thought I could do.  When my oldest daughter opened her own veterinarian clinic a little over a year ago, she asked me to paint cats and dogs to hang in her clinic.  From those paintings I get request to paint her clients pet portraits.

I do commissions on a large variety of subjects, including portraits and flowers, old cars and bicycles. I also teach watercolors classes in Grapevine and Highland Village.

I walk through life looking at things and planning how I would paint the things that I see.

I have lived in Flower Mound, Highland Village and finally have a small house and studio in Lewisville.
