For the past 25 years, Jackie Haugen (Highland Village) paints almost every day. Her first teacher was her Grandmother who more than 55 years ago presented her granddaughter with a wooden art box. Jackie studied under numerous instructors in PA, VA, MD, TX and at TWU and UNT as a watercolor major. Her art is frequently described as “energetic” and “imaginative.” One of her paintings, titled Pot Bar, was published in 2006 in Palette magazine. Her many awards through the years include:

  • Dogwood painting — Best of Show in a collaborative piece that is part of a permanent installation at the MCL Grande Theater in Lewisville (2014).
  • Icy Hot Night – awarded People’s Choice in the” Merging Visions” show in Denton (2015).
  • Goatman Bridge – Peoples choice award at the “Texas Bigger and Better” show at the Visual Art league of Lewisville (2018).
  • All Inclusive — currently juried into the Southwest Watercolor Show in Dallas by Jurior Robert Burridge and hangs at the Eisemann Performing Center in Richardson.

Her paintings can be viewed at Premier Gallery in Highland Village. In addition to CTAG, Jackie is a member of the Visual Art Society of Texas (Denton), the Visual Art League (Lewisville) and Southwest Watercolor Society (Dallas). Besides working in her comfortable studio, she also enjoys Plein Air painting and Urban Sketching. After 51 years as a Registered Nurse and a rewarding life working in hospital, Jackie looks forward to retiring and devoting more time to her passion…painting!
